about
Zahra is a California-based Pakistani paper artist with a love of paper, the written word and meandering outdoors. With a background in Economics and Finance and English, she passionately doodles on any surface, weaves threads and is in love with paper and food. She loves the versatility and form that paper has to offer. Her expressions are cut and folded into her artwork. When not surrounding by mounds of paper, she is wandering outside hiking in the wilderness with crazy ideas churning in her head, reading thrillers or cooking.
There has never been a time where Zahra hasn’t been curious to try out new things. She is always deep into some creative venture and when she started playing with paper, she just wanted to see how far she could stretch it. Paper creates spaces and encloses multi faceted structures. It is as if there is an architectural integrity that is being built, bit by bit, piece by piece and block by block. She wants this mundane material to turn heads, make statements with its colors and versatility, and be a source of inspiration.
Her works can be found at California Medical Association, Kaiser Permanente, Dignity Health and Sutter Hospitals along with many private collections around the world.
