Ms. Rasmussen, from Denver, Colorado, is enthusiastic to once again be working with the Capital Dance Project. She received her core dance training at Classical Ballet of Colorado & at the prestigious Academy of Colorado Ballet, where as a student she had the honor to perform the role of Odette in a production of Swan Lake. She has performed professionally with the Sacramento Ballet in productions such as Marius Petipa’s Swan Lake, George Balanchine’s Stars & Stripes & Gerald Arpino’s Viva Vivaldi!. Most recently, Shania danced the title role in Amy Seiwert’s Elpis for the Sacramento Ballet’s ‘Fast Forward’ series & premiered the role of Marie in Ms. Seiwert’s new adaptation of The Nutcracker this past holiday season. Shania has been featured by choreographers Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, Stephen Mills, David Fernandez, Jared Nelson, Darrell Grande Moultrie & Gina Patterson. As a founding choreographer for CDP she presented her original work Catalyst for CDP in 2015, collaborated with artist Trent Dean to create their mixed-media piece: Emergence in 2016, created her original work Independent Revolutions in collaboration with musician Casey Lipka in 2017 & in Summer 2018 she created The Perpetual with incorporated design by digital artist Ms. Natalie McKeever for ‘Behind The Barre’ 2017. In the summer of 2017, Ms. Rasmussen had the privilege to perform with Amy Seiwert’s San Francisco based contemporary company Imagery – performing her full-length ballet Wandering at the Joyce Theater in New York & at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival. Shania has a breadth of artistic talents beyond the stage that include graphic design, web design, & creating original musical compositions. |
