Rick PorterHailed as “The Tattooed Prince in Tights” by Sacramento Lifestyle Magazine, Mr. Porter has certainly made his mark on the Sacramento dance scene since his arrival in 2008. An Australian native, Richard trained at The Australian Ballet School before beginning his professional career with The West Australian Ballet & Melbourne Ballet Company. During his decade-long tenure with the Sacramento Ballet he has commanded the stage as a featured dancer in a variety of classical, neo-classical & contemporary ballets. Such performance highlights include: George Balanchine’s The Four Temperaments (Phlegnatic), Apollo, Serenade (Elegy), Allegro Brillante (Principal Male), Ron Cunningham’s Romeo & Juliet (Romeo) Marius Petipa’s Swan Lake (Prince Siegfried), Edwaard Liang’s Wunderland (1st Pas de Deux), Twyal Tharp’s Nine Sinatra Songs (That’s Life Pas de Deux). Richard is married to his beautiful wife Amanda, & together they have two amazing children: Annabelle, 2 years old & Miles, 3 months (both of whom are his complete pride & joy) & his family is completed with their dear 4 year old Great Dane Britton. His other passions/ past times include surfing, drumming, getting tattooed & spending lots of time with family & friends – cooking, drinking & having a good time.
