JULIA FELDMANMember of CDP since 2015 (Founding Member)
Born in Davis, California, Julia Feldman was trained under the direction of Pamela Hayes at Pamela Hayes Classical Ballet. She began her professional career in 2011 as an artist of the Sacramento Ballet. During her time in the company, she has danced principal and featured roles in works choreographed by George Balanchine, Ron Cunningham, Jodie Gates, Adam Hougland, Ma Cong, Amy Seiwert, Penny Saunders, Septime Weber, Darrell Grand Moultrie & Gabrielle Lamb, among others. Highlights have included performing the central couple in Jodie Gates’ Keep Me Wishing in the Dark, ‘1st pas’ in Ma Cong’s Bloodrush, the Pas de Deux from George Balanchine’s Agon, & the role of Ophelia in Stephen Mills' Hamlet. Julia has been fortunate to choreograph for the Sacramento Ballet’s annual program ‘Beer & Ballet’ since 2012, as well as for the School of the Sacramento Ballet. In 2019, Julia was one of four choreographers selected for the National Choreographer’s Initiative in Irvine, Ca, under the direction of Molly Lynch. She received her first full work commission for the Sacramento Ballet under the direction of Amy Seiwert, originally scheduled for the 2020-21 season, now postponed to 2022 due to covid-19. Julia is one of 3 commissioned choreographers to co-create a new Nutcracker for the Sacramento Ballet in 2021, under the direction of Anthony Krutzcamp. As a founding member of Capital Dance Project, Julia has played an integral role in the development of the organization’s mission & artistic management, as well as the collaborative vision behind CDP's annual Behind the Barre and Digital Series productions. She is inspired by the Sacramento arts community, and takes pride in her work with the CDP team to provide a unique creative platform and employment for local artists, musicians and dancers. |
