ISABELLA VELASQUEZMember of CDP since 2016
A native of Orange County, California, Ms. Velasquez is a company member with the Sacramento Ballet. She started her dance training at the Maple Conservatory, under the direction of Charles Maple in Irvine, CA & then continued as a trainee dancer with The Washington Ballet in D.C. She completed her dance studies at Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre’s Graduate Program before joining Sacramento Ballet in 2014. Audience members will recall her leaping into the spotlight in many featured roles including: Ophelia in Stephen Mills’ Hamlet, Kitri in Don Quixote, Act I, Pas de Quatre in Giselle, Snow Queen/Rose in Ron Cunningham’s The Nutrcracker, Red Girl in Carmina Burana, Marie in Amy Seiwert’s new rendition of The Nutcracker (Marie), Ma Cong’s Blood Rush (Soloist), Septime Webre’s Fluctuating Hemlines (Soloist), George Balanchine’s Tarantella, Donizetti Variations (Principal Female), Serenade (Russian Corps) & as one of the female soloists in Gerald Arpino’s tour de force – Viva Vivaldi! Other performance highlights include: Adama Hougland’s Cigarettes, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa’s Written & Forgotten, Ashley Walton’s Focal Point, Septime Webre’s Juanita y Alicia & George Balanchine’s Concerto Barocco & The Four Temperaments. Isabella enjoys spending time away from the studio with her puppies, Luigi and Leo, & caring for her wide-ranging collection of house plants. |
