FRANCES POWLESSMember of CDP since 2019
Born & raised in Houston, Texas, Frances received much of her primary dance training at her hometown studio Uptown Dance Centre with Beth Gulledge-Brown, Adrian Ciobanu & Alex Pandiscio. Frances began her professional career as a trainee with BalletMet in Columbus, OH under the leadership of Edwaard Liang & later as a member of Ballet Arizona’s Studio Company, under Ib Anderson & Carlos Valcarcel, before joining the Sacramento Ballet as an apprentice in 2016. She was promoted as a company member in 2017 & since has been able to showcase her talents as a choreographer for the Sacramento Ballet’s ‘Beer & Ballet’ series. Some of her most memorable roles have been in George Balanchine’s Serenade (Russian Corps), Walpurgisnacht, Symphony in Three Movements, Ma Cong’s Blood Rush, Gabrielle Lamb’s The Worm Forgives The Plow & as Marie in Amy Seiwert’s newest staging of The Nutcracker. Frances is also an accomplished calligrapher (@flourishesbyfran), photographer, painter. When not busy expanding her artistry, she enjoys spending time among the flowers in Midtown & getting her caffeine fix at her favorite coffeehouse The Mill. |
