Ms. Cunninham is true Sac-towner, having grown up in the community and having the ability to watch the city flourish throughout the years. She trained locally at Deane Dance Center under the guidance of Barbara Crockett & Allyson Dean before joining the Sacramento Ballet – where she steadily rose through the ranks of the company. Audiences will remember Alexandra from her portrayals in some of the most popular ballets: Odette/Odile in Marius Petips’s Swan Lake, Juliet in Ron Cunningham’s Romeo & Juliet, Daisy in Ron Cunningham’s The Great Gatsby. Her career highlights also include 14 works by George Balanchine as well as works by Twyla Tharp, Edward Liang, Septime Webre, Trey McIntyre & Amy Seiwert. As one of the initial founders of Capital Dance Project Ms. Cunningham has been able to showcase many of her off-stage talents through CDP as an instrumental figure in the project’s growth, development, marketing campaign & management. While recovering from her 2nd ACL surgery, Alexandra continues to stay active around town with the devoted care of the amazing physical therapists of Capital Physical Therapy. Alexandra’s favorite post-performance activities include getting delicious eats at Tapa The World & cuddling with her cat Mochii. Much thanks and love to her grandmother, Solange MacLean for her belief in CDP & for being a role model of strength & grace.
