Sacramento’s first-ever Sensory-Friendly Dance Performance Sponsored by the Sacramento Kings, The Kings Foundation, and Kulture City AUGUST 25TH, 6PM
CDP's summer performance series will kick off on August 25th with a Sensory-Friendly Dance Performance that is designed to make everyone, particularly individuals with autism or other sensory related disabilities, feel welcomed, comfortable and accepted in a theater environment.Traditional theater rules will be relaxed, sound and lighting effects will be minimized during the short dance performance and CDP will provide an opportunity for children with special needs, and their families, to meet and connect with the Sacramento community in a climate of acceptance and understanding. CDP is thrilled to receive support from the Sacramento Kings, The Kings Foundation and Kulture City to present the first Sensory-Friendly Dance Performance in Sacramento.
Then, on August 26th and 27th, CDP returns for it's 3rd annual performance of Behind the Barre: Made in Sacramento. CDP's resident choreographers have once again teamed up with Sacramento’s most exciting visual artists and musicians to captivate audiences with nine world premiere dance works that will blow your mind with their innovative collaborations. This year’s featured collaborators include Raphael Delgado, Harley White Jr., Casey Lipka, Sunya Whitelight, Sarah Dedal, Andy Tan & Alison Sharkey, Mandy Zee, Paul Willis, Sambanda, and Maruyama Bonsai Nursery. Local videographer, Brandon Manning weaves the nine works together with short behind-the-scenes videos preceding each work to give you extra insight into the creative minds of these extraordinary Sacramento artists. To top it all off, New Helvetia Brewing Co. will serve their delicious brews and donate all proceeds to CDP. If you love Sacramento and want to experience all it has to offer - then this event is for you!
