Capital Dance Project is seeking local visual artists, musicians, designers, and performing artists of all genres outside of dance who are interested in a unique and exciting opportunity to collaborate with one of our 10 resident choreographers. The collaborative works with be shown for our annual Behind the Barre performances, which will be presented August 2020.
Choreographers will select one collaborative artist/group each to work with in creating a world premiere for Capital Dance Project’s 6th annual Behind the Barre. Deadline to apply is April 24th - check out our Artist Call page for more information or to submit your application today!
We presented our 5th annual Behind the Barre performance at the Crest Theatre on August 16 & 17, 2019 to over 1,000 audience members! We also provided 300 free tickets to underserved youth to attend the performances free of charge, engaged our community in a variety of free dance outreach events, and collaborated with over 30 Sacramento-based dancers, artists, and musicians.
Additionally, we offered 12 Sensory-Friendly Dance Classes throughout July & August, and presented our 3rd annual Sensory-Friendly Dance Performances on August 18, 2019 at The Sofia, home of the B Street Theatre.
