ALISON SHARKEY and ANDY TAN
Andy Tan & Alison Sharkey are a professional creative arts design team based in the Sacramento/Davis area. As graduates of UC Davis and DePaul University respectively, they first met as colleagues in the Stockton Symphony in 2010, continuing on to join the Sacramento String Quartet together in 2011. With a focus on collaborating in music, writing, education and visual arts, Andy and Alison provide a wide array of diverse talents and fresh ideas to clients and friends around the world.
Cellist, writer and designer Alison Sharkey has performed and recorded with multiple orchestras and ensembles throughout California since moving here from Kansas City to attend CSUS in 1999. A permanent member of the Stockton Symphony, Alison has played principal and section cello for the Stockton Opera, Gold Country Chamber Orchestra, Sacramento Philharmonic, Sacramento Ballet, Crockett-Deane Dance Center, Reno Philharmonic, Modesto Symphony, and others. A founding artist-in-residence at WAL, Alison is also the proud owner of Hugh and Mimi, an online boutique and gallery space featuring handmade quilts, gifts, personally tailored garments and more. She is pleased to present her premiere costume collection at this year's Behind the Barre.
Andy Tan's music has been performed by the Empyrean Ensemble, New York New Music Ensemble, Arianna String Quartet, UC Davis Symphony Orchestra, Berkeley Symphony, and featured in documentaries and award winning indie films. As a professional violinist and violist, Andy is currently a permanent member of the Stockton Symphony. He was the principal violist of the Camellia Symphony and BPO of the Aldeburgh Music Festival in 2010. In CDP's 2016 season, Andy Tan's original ballet score "Four Dances of the Tulip Petal" was featured in Julia Feldman's choreography "Sempre Augustus," and was performed by Andy Tan (violin), Alison Sharkey (Cello), and I-Hui Chen (piano). This is Andy & Alison's second season with CDP.
