Member of CDP since 2015 (founding member)
Born in Davis, California, Julia Feldman was trained under the direction of Pamela Hayes at Pamela Hayes Classical Ballet. She began her professional career in 2011 as an artist of the Sacramento Ballet. During her time in the company, she has danced principal and featured roles in works choreographed by George Balanchine, Ron Cunningham, Jodie Gates, Adam Hougland, Ma Cong, Amy Seiwert, Penny Saunders, Septime Weber, Darrell Grand Moultrie & Gabrielle Lamb, among others. Highlights have included performing the central couple in Jodie Gates’ Keep Me Wishing in the Dark, ‘1st pas’ in Ma Cong’s Bloodrush, the Pas de Deux from George Balanchine’s Agon, Adam Hougland's Cigarettes, & the role of Ophelia in Stephen Mills' Hamlet. Julia has been fortunate to choreograph for the Sacramento Ballet’s annual program ‘Beer & Ballet’ since 2012, as well as for the School of the Sacramento Ballet. She was honored to have been invited to choreograph for the National Choreographer's Initiative last summer under the direction of Molly Lynch.
As a founding member of Capital Dance Project, she has played an integral role in the development of the organization’s mission & artistic management. Ms. Feldman is inspired by the Sacramento arts community, & takes pride in CDP's efforts to build an even stronger network between our city's artists, musicians & dancers through collaboration. She has been thrilled to create premieres for CDP’s annual production Behind the Barre since it’s inauguration in 2015, which have included collaborations with classical composer Andy Tan in 2016, rap artist Paul Willis in 2017 & with visual artist Franceska Gomez for her 2018 piece All the Times We Had.
