A native of Orange County, California Ms. Velasquez makes her Capital Dance Project performance debut this year after helping as a production assistant during last year’s showcase. She started her dance training at the Maple Conservatory, under the direction of Charles Maple in Irvine, CA & then continued on as a trainee dancer with The Washington Ballet in DC. She completed her dance studies at Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre’s Graduate Program before joining Sacramento Ballet as an apprentice for the 2014-2016 seasons. Audience members will recall her leaping into the spotlight as the lead ballerina Kitri in Don Quixote, Act I, during the recent Sacramento Ballet ‘Latin Nights’ series. Other performance highlights include: Ma Cong’s Blood Rush, Septime Webre’s Juanita y Alicia, Ron Cunningham’s The Nutcracker (Spanish) & George Balanchine’s Concerto Barocco. This newly promoted company member of the Sacramento Ballet recommends Eatuscany Caffe as one of her favorite places to enjoy some delicious gelato.
